Good Morning!

I think I've finally stopped tweaking the runners and it is finished! Here is a peak at the final piece. Friday I set up for my first marathon expo so I am getting ready for all of that this week. I am now finished painting for the expo but I still have to cut mats for prints and build my memory boxes. I should be able to share some progress on those this week.

Until next time...

Hello! I just realized how long it has been since I have last blogged! Crazy! Every time I tell myself I am going to go to the computer and blog I get distracted by something else. Well, you've been waiting for some progress on the runner painting and here it is. I put texture on my people and the background before I continued to paint. I actually got a little anxious and started on my final layer before I got the chance to photograph the under painting though! I am still tweaking on what I think is the final layer now. I am my worst critic! I really should walk away and leave myself alone!!

Until next time...

Hello! I don't have any photos to share today but I thought I would at least share a progress report. I finished all of my silhouettes last night (30 paintings total). When they are dry enough not to glare in a photo, I will show you a couple I thought turned out really nice. Yesterday and today I have been working on ordering last minute supplies and computer work. Tonight I should be back in the studio to work on my big runners painting which I need to finish soon!! In that case, I should have a progress photo or two for you by tomorrow.

Until next time...

Happy Monday!

I wanted to share a little progress I have just made on my silhouette series we have been following. Saturday and Sunday we got a big chunk of the moving finished do to the help of family and friends - I want to thank them again for their help! Because of them, I was able to get into the studio last night and this morning. Of course, it is mostly still in boxes - but I found the paints and brushes and was able to continue on my work. I have 10 days before my first Expo of the season so it's time to finalize a lot of things especially the finishing paintings! So here are some finished silhouettes to gander at and I will be back with more progress as it comes along! Have a great week!

Until next time...

Hello! Happy Friday! Here is a peak at the painting progress yesterday. I applied background designs for 20 silhouettes. That took me most of the day. While they are drying I am taking a short break from painting to move. I am moving into a new temporary studio until we get the chance to find a house to move in permanently. I am setting things up today and tomorrow. Hopes are I can be painting again by Sunday evening. Perhaps by then, some of my backgrounds will be dry enough to paint the runners on AND I will be able to work on my new big runner painting AND finish my Yosemite commission! So much to do...must go!

Until next time...

Good Morning!

I just realized that I did not get a chance to blog about yesterday's painting. Yesterday, Mom and I finished prepping the silhouettes so that I can paint with oil today. I showed you the texture applied. Then we washed them all in purple shadow color to get into all the nooks and crannies. Then I stacked them into color piles (that's what you see first in the photos) as to what color each silhouette was planned to be. Then we put the color wash around the runners (that is the second photo). Today I get to add all my backgrounds in oil. Much to do - more later!

Until next time...

Good Evening!

I thought I would share a little progress from today. I visited my mother today and she helped me get started on a BIG series of runner silhouettes. I took a picture of the texture we put on today - but I tweaked the picture to make the texture stand out more - that way you could see it better (in reality they are white in color). Very cool! Now I need to paint them!

Good Morning!
There has been a major change of action in the studio since I last wrote - a bit of a good news, bad news situation! Bad news... I attempted to add runners to my beautiful tree line and upon critique, it did not work! My trees took all the attention away from the runners and my husband said the runners looked like giants running beside the trees! Oh dear! Sometimes the best laid plans simply don't work! So, I "erased" my runners from my tree line. In the end, the only bad news is that I have to start another runner painting from scratch. The good news is... I now have a beautiful new painting for my landscape series. I will add one of my wonderful meadows to the foreground and it will be a gorgeous new addition in my booth!

Now, about that runner painting... I went ahead and placed my runners first this time and I'll paint my background around them. I have a feeling there will be quite a change in this painting's feel and appearance- not that there's anything wrong with that! What you see now is the start of this new adventure! As always, I will keep you posted.

Until next time...

Happy Easter!

I hope everyone had a nice weekend. I thought I would fill you in on the progress of my Runner Painting. Finally, the whole picture - of the background anyway!! Tonight, I will get my runner shadows on. That will be quite the task as I think I have planned 9 runners! Wish me luck with that!

And yet another piece of the puzzle. I do realize that those of you who prefer to see "the big picture" are probably not enjoying me right now - but once I get the grass in, I will show the piece in progress as a whole! Until then, enjoy the details and let your imagination play with the images a little!

Until next time...

Good Morning! Here is a new puzzle piece to the runner painting. I still have 4 or 5 trees left to add to the background for my runners (it is a very large piece!!) Then I will add some grass to the foreground - maybe some posies - before I let it dry to get ready for runners.

Until next time...

Thought I would update you with the latest paint on the Yosemite Painting. Now I'm out for a run before I start on the trees for the Runners Painting.

Until next time...

Good Morning! Last night I made some really nice progress on the Yosemite mountains. Here is a nice close up shot of the rocks I finished. The paint is still quite wet so it may have reflected a little in the photo but otherwise, look how wonderful it is coming along! I have a couple more mountains to finish as well as the evergreen forest below them before I have to let it dry again. If you remember, there is a large evergreen in the foreground of this composition. It will come about after everything else is dry.

Until next time...

Good Morning! I spent much of yesterday on the computer but will get to spend much of today in the studio. However, I did get to play in a little paint last night. I started working on the final clouds for my large "Runners in a Park" painting. I still have not decided on a title for this piece so for now it's "Runners in a Park." I thought it could be fun to follow this painting in a different way as I work on it. I think I will show smaller detailed chunks of the painting as I go along. That way it is a bit of a puzzle until we gather all the pieces at the end and see it all finished. Here is the first piece.

Until next time...

Good Afternoon and Happy Monday to you! I am pleased to share all the 24 x 48 rock details. I keep touching it to see when I can add the leaves to it and I think it will be rather soon! Meanwhile, I am putting leaves on a couple pieces we have not been following (I started 20 paintings!!) and updating my website when I need a painting break. Lots to do, so I will go for now. More painting progress soon!

Until next time...

Friday, April 3, 2009

Hello! Yesterday, I showed you one side of my 24 x 48 and today I can show you the other side. Now I just have to work on the river bed in the middle! I do have company coming today and a workshop tomorrow so I will be away from the studio for a couple days. There will be plenty to share when I get back in on Monday though. See you then!!

Until next time...

Here is a little progress on the large painting I am working on today. I will be heading out for a run and then I will be back to work on it some more. The rocks are coming along nicely though.

Until next time...

Good Morning!

Yesterday was a very productive painting day. As you can see, I finished the under painting for my new marathon runner painting. It is 24" tall and 48" wide. I have several ideas for a title for this piece already. I will finish the tree lined path and then add my eight runners later. It was great to play with my deep blues and bright white again.
Then, I mixed some new rock colors to try and finish up the remaining rocks and tree trunks in my Wooded View Series. I am working on the big 24 x 48 today. Meanwhile, I have finished the final sky for the Yosemite Commission and am waiting for it to dry to put the final rock colors on. Can you tell we are getting closer to show season?!!! More later!

Until next time...

Good Morning!

Here is a piece that we actually are following with it's rock details added. Once this layer dries, I will be able to add the final foliage and interesting details to finish the piece. Yippee!
Today, I am starting a piece for Paint Running that is anticipated to be my "POW" piece at the Marathon expos. The background for this piece is inspired by a painting I finished a while back. It looks like it would be the perfect getaway for a marathon! I will keep you posted on that one as well. Have a wonderful day!
