A Final Look

I'm back again. I was able to finish the latest painting we were following. Let's see, this one was 10" high by 30"wide. It was inspired by a scene I took a picture of on my last trip home from Illinois. I like to call these roadside glimpses. My husband and I went for a walk on a new trail today and found some wonderful scenes to potentially paint. Always looking for a new view!

Painting Day

Hello!

Today is my last day to get some painting done for the busy upcoming weekend. The picture I have posted this morning is a progress shot of a meadow scene I started a while back. I just have to paint the leaves and posies on the corners and add some highlights to the tree. I should have it finished along with a couple other paintings today.

A Follow Up

Hello! I was going through my blog entries and wondered if there were any paintings lately that we started following and didn't get a chance to finish. One of them I am actually working on today and the other was my sister piece to the big sky. Here is the finished version of that painting. Sometimes, I have so many things going on at once, I don't always remember what I've blogged about! I'll have to try and keep up with myself won't I?!!!

Happy Monday!

Hello!

I am back at the computer! After a long weekend at the art festival, I got to enjoy the outdoors and paint today. My husband was taking pictures again and here is me working on some new skies. After working on such a large piece, it is fun to work on some little pieces now. I have two shows in a row this coming weekend so I will try to be ready for them!

Wow!

Wow! It's finished and it is pretty fantastic (if I should say so myself!). I figured the foreground would be hard to negotiate but I must have been in the mode for it - it just came to life more and more with every stroke. Now it just needs to dry!!! I've titled it "Early Evening Radiance."

Tomorrow we will be heading to Chicago again. This will be the last trip to that area for this season. I will be at Highland Park this weekend and Oak Brook next weekend. I've got to keep packing.

Camera, Action!

Hello!

I just wanted to say hello and post a progress action shot! My husband caught me in the act of painting yet again. He's so good at that! Here I am working on the big sky. Today we are out for the day with family so we may not see more progress until tomorrow. By the way, Happy Birthday Mom Taylor!

Wet paint

I'm back!

I decided to work on the sky for the sister piece to the big sky while the sky colors were still good. This was fun because it had different kinds of clouds than the big one. It was a nice change of pace! I am planning a lone tree and a meadowed hill at the bottom of this beautiful and quite colorful sky. Now, I need to get back to the the big sky and this one will dry. Chris caught me in action and it also is a great shot of how my paintings are painted around the sides!

More paint

Hello!

Today I am back in the studio and I am working on the monster painting we are following, "the big sky." I was able to finish the sky and the under painting for my trees and meadow area. Today I get to work on those trees and meadow areas. I have plenty of space to work with!! I should be back later today with more!

The Big Sky

Good Afternoon!

Introducing a new follow a painting! For the moment, I am calling this one The Big Sky because it is probably my most ambitious painting of the summer. This painting is 60" wide by 40" tall. It is inspired once again from the beautiful evening skies I have been witnessing. It will probably be similar in subject matter and ambiance of the Yellow Sky we followed earlier in the month. I am sure the sky alone will take a good 8-12 hours but I can't wait to see how it goes! Here is a picture of the under painting. This is now dry and ready for it's magic! I will keep you posted!!

Finished For Now

Hello!

My sister and I walked our 8 miles this morning. It was a beautiful cool morning. Of course, I didn't bring my camera and there were so many great morning scenes this morning! Perhaps I'll have to find another morning to go take pictures!

One great thing about an early morning out is that I've already gotten to paint! Here is the final look at my mountain scene with the flowered meadow finished. I am very happy with how it finished out. It is 36" wide and 18" tall.

Which painting will we follow next? I think I will figure that out tomorrow when I get the whole day to get some painting done. I will keep you posted!

Details

Hello!

Do you ever wonder when looking at my meadow scenes, just how I got all those little flowers and grasses in and organized? Well, I do too!! In fact, even after as many as I've done, starting one of those fields is still a little daunting! However, once I get going there is no turning back and somehow I get it done and it turns out great. I thought I would show the very begining of a flowered field, so you can see how it starts out. One flower at a time!

Today is another day in the frame shop and then a 8 mile walk in the morning with my sister. So, it may be a little bit before I'm back... but don't worry, that field will be all filled in and beautiful soon!

Follow a Painting

Hi!

A quick hello to show a progress shot of the painting I posted earlier. I played with the sky a little bit and then added the yellow meadow. I am about ready to add different kinds of flowers in the foreground. Can't wait! However, now the Olympics are on so you may not get to see the finished painting until tomorrow! Good night!

Painting again!

Good Morning!

Yesterday was a day that just flew by. I was able to get a little bit of painting finished before I headed to the frame shop for a spell. It was a busy evening and before I knew it, it was time to go home get a late supper and go to bed! Today I am planning on getting a good bit of painting accomplished. I have some pieces that just need finishing touches and they will be done! I am starting two pieces for my big show in Higland Park, IL not this weekend but the next. I am working on a painting that is 60" wide and 40" tall. I am quite excited. It will be another scene with my new yellow evening sky. I am also optimistically starting a sister piece that is 12" wide and 36"tall. I'm not sure I have enough time to pull that one off in time, but if I do, I will have quite a fantastic display to show off! Wish me luck! Above is a picture of one of the pieces I hope to finish today. It is part of my evergreen series.

Tree shadow

Good Afternoon!

I have been painting today and it has been nice. I actually miss those brushes when I'm away too long! I was able to get a tree and meadow shadow on a sky I finished a while back. On our way back from Chicago yesterday, the clouds were fantastic! I was taking pictures out the window and at every stop we made. One of our stops was a rest area and the back drop for the rest area was absolutely beautiful! It was every meadow painters dream! I may not have all the flower names correct here but there were Magenta Daisies, Queen Ann's Lace, along with purple sage and some other yellow stalks of flowers. Not to mention the many shades of green. This has inspired the tree and field shadow for this painting and possibly a large scale painting as well. And all because we drank too much tea at Cracker Barrel!!! Very cool!

Back to the Easel

Good Morning!

I am back to the studio and scheming my next move. Today is definitely a painting day. It has been a little while since I have been able to do so. By the way, "Rolling Hills," the painting we followed last week, has won the heart of a patron in Chicago. It is always fun when a painting goes straight from the easel to some one's wall!

For this morning, I am still in planning phase. I have three shows in a row coming up so I need to become prepared for those. I will post a progress shot later in the day! It's good to be back home!

Downtown

Hello! Sorry I have been absent. This is the weekend for the big Gold Coast show in Chicago. It is a three day show. We've finished Friday and Saturday and just have Sunday left. I took my first train ride today. It would have been really nice except the tracks were under construction!! Anyway, here is a picture of me in the booth.

Finished, I think!

Hi!

Here is a picture of the tree lined hillside that we have been following. I have titled it "Rolling Hills" and it is 36" wide by 12" tall. I like the combination of the greens and the yellows. It makes it a quiet and laid back scene. I have also finished some more evergreen scenes today with the colored skies so I can't wait to share those. Perhaps tomorrow I should work on my website and get all the new paintings up. For now enjoy "Rolling Hills" and I am going to go paint more!

Happy Monday

Hello!

I took a day to recover a bit from the weekend. It was a long weekend but it was dry! That was very refreshing! This was my very first festival weekend with no storming. Yeahhh! Today was stormy but I stayed inside and did the usual Monday paperwork. I also cleaned all my palletes to get them ready for a steady two days of painting before a very big show in down town Chicago this coming weekend. Two steady days of painting means I post some painting progress for you. I attemped to upload a photo of my next painting but we are having technical difficulties. I will get it posted as soon as they'll let me!! You will see the sky and shadows for a tree lined hillside. This hillside was inspired by a trip to Southeastern Ohio last fall. Tomorrow I should be able to show some final details for you.

Until next time...

Hello!

I just wanted to post a quick hello to those who have joined me from The Taylor Times. I have just arrived in Chicago about to set up another show. I'll keep you posted on how things go here. Until then, please enjoy past posts and the progress of "Evening Meadow." I should be painting again early next week so check back in! For now, I will tease you with another new piece. This one is called "Awaiting the Rain." (If it will just wait till after this weekend!!!)
