Today was a fabulous day because I was able to take the easel outside and paint today. There's nothing like painting a tree sitting around trees! As I was getting started on one of the larger pieces, my husband Chris came around with the camera and caught me in action. Here is a picture of me working and a progress shot of the painting. I should be able to work on the meadow soon.

Here is the painting plan for the last sky I showed you earlier in the week. It is inspired by a spot that I often forget to stop and look at because it is almost always at my back when I run at Sharon Woods. However, one day it was very colorful due to the autumn turn and the dark green evergreens just stood out brilliantly against the burnt oranges and reds. Now I make it point sometimes to turn around and glance at this meadow. It was nice this spring also. I will have to decide which season I want to paint it in! Today I have two more skies to finish and I think a couple of my earlier shadowed paintings are ready for a final layer of color! It will be a very colorful weekend!

Good Morning!

Thought I'd stop by and share some under painted trees. I believe I showed this sky under painting earlier in the week. It now has it's purple shadows and is drying. I don't have any shadows ready for color yet so I'll be continuing to add shadows to my many skies today. Also, my studio is being photographed today... I'll be in the newspaper!! More about that soon.

Hello! I just wanted to share the sky that I spent all night with! This piece is 48" tall and 24" wide. I have some trees and a beautiful meadow planned for the foreground. I cannot wait until I can add greens and yellows and lavenders to it! I will be working on more cloud details today!

Good Morning and welcome back from a long weekend hopefully celebrating Memorial Day with friends and family. Now I guess it's back to work isn't it? I just went down to the studio to check and the sky under paintings are dry and ready for a new layer. That is a good sign! I have a couple errands to run this morning but then I will be able to work on some final clouds. Until then, here is another of my sky under paintings, one that I am looking forward to putting many wonderful details on!

Good Morning!

Yesterday I was engulfed in skies! I kept having paint left over so I kept painting skies! However, it's never a bad thing to have extra skies hanging around. I have 10 new canvases started ranging in size from 8 x 10 to 24 x 48. Now I just have to wait for them to dry so I can put their cloud details on and decide what kind of land is going under them. Today will be a sewing day. I have an order for a t-shirt quilt so I am going to work on it while the skies are drying.

Good Morning!

I have sorted through ALL of my inspirational photographs and along the way found some new cloud shapes to paint. Yesterday I started working on a couple cloud under paintings using the new inspiration photos as reference. Here is one of the under paintings I finished last night.

Hi. Today was a basket weaving day. I had a couple of orders for baskets so out came the reed and the bucket of water. My baskets have two walls, an inside wall and an outside wall. This not only makes them incredibly strong but I can put two different designs on inside versus the outside. These two were a bit too small to really play with the inside design but the outsides are fun with the wire and beads. I get to paint again tomorrow. I'm ready to start another series!

I finally got it! The photo we've been waiting for! This painting is called "Wooded Pond." It is 11" wide and 14" tall. This one is unique to the rest of my collection because it has the deeper greens in the background trees and it has the tall grasses in the foreground. enjoy!

Good Morning!
This morning I was looking through the pictures we took over the busy festival weekend and here are a couple shots of me at work! The one inside was Paint Running at the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Expo. That was finished Saturday evening so we packed up the van, headed home, unloaded the Paint Running, and reloaded with the Contemporary Landscapes! We then headed to Cincinnati Sunday morning for the Wyoming Art Show and set up for a day of blue skies! The people in both places were very nice. Now Chris and I are back home and it's recovery today before the big paint to get ready for a series of shows in June!

Good Morning! I last left you anticipating a finished pond painting - but that was dependent on the rain stopping and me remembering to do so! The rain did stop finally but I was preparing for two shows this weekend and I totally forgot to photograph my pond!! However, I do have the other eight paintings from this series of nine posted on my Paintings page of my website. You are welcome to take a look at them there. www.amykayetaylor.com. I will make sure to get a photo of the new lake Monday. I am in Cleveland now through this evening for the Rite Aid Cleveland Marathon Expo with Paint Running and will be in Cincinnati tomorrow for the Wyoming Art Show with my landscapes! I'll check in when I can!

Good Morning! We are a little rainy this morning and I think I heard my first claps of thunder of the season this morning. It reminds me that I have not painted any storms or rainbows lately. I may have to think about that. Meanwhile, I have been working on some new paintings for my booth in Wyoming, OH this coming Sunday. Many of them look similar to my past blue sky paintings but I am always trying to find a way to make a new piece special and a bit different. When I finished the last pond, I loved the tall grass in the foreground. So, I thought I would paint another pond with that concept. Here is the under painting for these thoughts. Between rain drops I'll try to get a nice picture of the finished piece for you to see!

Good Morning!

Here is the finished look at what I have titled, "New Spring." It actually is a little greener than that but my camera doesn't seem to like to pick up the greens as much. I have a few more smaller ones on the go also. I will update my website with the new pieces today or tomorrow (I'll let you know when) and then you'll be able to see all of them there. I have one more to finish today that I would like to have dry in time for Sunday's Wyoming Art Show in Cincinnati, OH. So... I'm off to finish it. Have a good day!

Hello!

Here is the newest painting in the studio at the moment. It is 18"x 18." I've done paintings in the past where a single evergreen has a big presence. I find that this scene, no matter how different this one is from the last one I painted, seems to connect well with my patrons. I am sensing that this one will have a very quiet ambiance. I can't wait to get some color on it!

Hello!

A while back we were following this commission inspired by Yosemite National Park. Because it wasn't due until June, it got wait listed for completion! However, I can now proudly say that this painting is complete and I think it turned out wonderful. I feel like I've been there before even though I haven't! Enjoy! I am painting some more today so we will follow a new piece tomorrow!

Here it is the final look at my pond with the dock painting. I still need a good title for this piece. It seems like such a beautiful, quiet day doesn't it? I remembered when I was taking pictures at this pond, I couldn't stop snapping shots. Of course, when the batteries die in the camera, you know you've been there too long! I think it was well worth the time though. This painting is a beautiful reminder of that little trip!

Hello! Here is the first layer for the new pond scene we are following. Everything has been placed with blues and purples awaiting its chance to get lots of wonderful colors! I actually didn't take many photos in between this one and the final look so the next blog will be the finished painting! Boy, that was a quick follow, I'll need to start another painting!

Are we ready for a new painting to follow? As I am finishing up paintings that were started eons ago and getting ready for the upcoming show season, I was encouraged to paint another lake scene. This one has a dock in it which is something new and exciting for me to paint. So, I thought while other pieces were drying and getting their finishing touches, I would work on this piece and blog about it. Here is step one, the drawing. Enjoy! I actually have more than that finished so I'll have more progress to show soon!

Hello!

I just returned from my first marathon expo Friday and Saturday and from running the 1/2 marathon this morning. It was quite the eventful weekend! I thought I would share some photos from the Expo. There is one of my set-up and another of me - the artist/saleswoman! Thanks to all of you who stopped by the booth and learned about my new product. Now I get to recover a little from the expo and the run before I head back into the studio for some hard core painting. My next Marathon Expo as well as my first landscapes show is in two weekends so I'll need to get ready for both of those. I will keep you posted!

Until next time...
