When I finished my bridge under painting, I felt like I needed to paint a companion piece to go with it. So here it is. This painting in 16 inches high by 20 inches wide. It is another view of the same bridge. I was working on it during a spring event at Dreaming Tree Galleries in Grove City. I was caught on "film" during that time.

Hello.
Here is a couple more progress photos for my bridge scene. Now you can see the fallen tree crossing the river and its reflection. I love how the curve in the tree reflects the curves in the bridge above it. It is as if it meant to do that!!

Good Afternoon!

Here we are starting to see how the bridge is coming along. I started with the bridge mainly because it was the main character in this landscape story. The sky comes next because the trees will over lap it soon. The rest will come to life soon.

Good Day!
Today I am introducing a new subject matter that I found for my Rural Riches collection... a covered bridge. This one is inspired by a bridge found in the Mohican area in Ohio. It's tucked back in the woods with a beautiful river running beneath. I think I'll do a couple pieces with this bridge as the main character but we will follow the progress of this view. Enjoy. I am getting some great progress shots of this in the under painting stages... more soon.

Hello. Sorry for the delay. There's been quite a bit going on outside the studio this week and I have just gotten back into it today. Here is the final under painted look for the piece we have recently been following. It looks really exciting even without its colors. Speaking of colors, I'm hoping to get to some final paintings starting early next week. I have about four more under paintings I want to finish before I start color and I am working on them now. I have a new intriguing piece on the easel now and we will take a peak at its drawing tomorrow.

We are continuing to follow my new farm scene as we are now seeing the fields and clouds emerging. I have some more clouds and wooded hills to portray behind my buildings. More soon.

Hello!
My time in the studio has been a little hit and miss the past couple days but I have snuck in and made a some progress on my under painting. Here is the latest series of progress shots on my new farm scene. My mother is always asking where the house is in a farm scene... I never include the place where the farmer lives. Well, this one is for her! I've finally included the house! I actually painted a version of this farm quite a while ago. It sold quickly and I have been intrigued to paint it again. This time I've gone a bit closer to the farm so we will be able to see more details. It is really an old farm with lots of character and resides where my husband's family grew up. It'll be fun to see how it differs from the first piece.

I thought I'd introduce you to my new studio cat. She is quite sweet and likes to hang out with me when I paint!

And here it is! The final look before it starts glowing with color. No color yet though. I still have a few pieces to under paint from this series. By working on all the under paintings first and color altogether later, I am able to recycle my colors on the next piece and have less dried up paint going to the trash. I am actually on a roll now even though my studio looks as though it is experiencing a purple haze!! Can't wait to show the next farm scene!

Hello!
I have a couple progress shots of the new barn scene as it comes along in it's under painted stage. I just have some trees left to add and then I can move on to the next piece! The final under painting soon...

It's a new drawing! This was a nice aged barn I ran across last summer. It is still in good enough condition to be a working barn but it is showing its winkles and sags a little! Can't wait to see how it looks as it is under painted.

Hello!
Finally, the finished under painting for the 36 x 60. It looks really inviting already. Just wait until I get color on it! Today I did a lot of sketching. I have about 6 more pieces planned for this particular series. I have more barns, some hay bails, another small river, and I'm trying something new...

Hello.

Here is an under painting progress shot on the new painting we are following. I just have some foreground foliage to hash out and the first layer will be complete. I am thinking about my next piece... I am enjoying the barn under painting quite a lot and I want to expand on that theme some more. I think I have another barn scene up my sleeve!

As we are following the beginnings of my new paintings, here is another I have been working on the last couple of days. This is a very large piece. It is 60" tall and 36" wide. It's a monster along with the other river I have started. Together, these two pieces should give a wow factor in the booth you cannot ignore. That is the plan anyway! Here is the sketch on canvas.

Here is a peak at the barn painting we have been following through the under painting stages. I can't wait to add color!

Good Afternoon.
It was a lot fun to photograph the under painting of this piece as I finished each layer. The final under painting soon! (I'm still working on it!)

Hello!
Here is one of the sketches I have been working on for the new 2010 line. I have been doing some brainstorming on my theme for the 2010 Collection and I think I will call it Rural Riches. As I am thinking about this theme, some of the most beautiful and nostalgic scenes in the rural country side are farm scenes. Here is a barn I found nestled behind an overgrown meadow in Illinois. I took many photos of this barn from all angles so we may see it again in the future. For now, we can explore this most simple and quiet look at the scene. This piece is 20" high and 16" wide. I am good to go to paint its under painting so hopefully I'll be able to show you that soon.
Until next time...
